This Session isn’t based on your marital status — whether you’re in a relationship or single — but rather on the art of embracing your alone time and getting more comfortable when it’s just me, myself, and I. It was something I really struggled with a few years back, especially after getting out of a longterm relationships. I felt as though if I didn’t have someone to do something with, then I was failing in some way. That I was lacking in some ways if I couldn’t attract others to me at all times.

The truth: Alone time can be glorious. And it's a really relevant topic, as so many of us have been either spending time alone or experiencing loneliness during the pandemic. Getting good at being alone (and more comfortable), can unlock a lot of great things, from emotional and personal clarity to career success and more reliable, deep relationships. Once you brave the initial hurdles, alone time can be a therapeutic, great thing.

In fact, spending time alone is linked with increased creativity and helpful for sharpening problem-solving skills, and it can also blunt high-arousal emotions, both positive and negative, meaning that it can have a calming effect.

In this Hurdle Session, we’ll cover:

  • Why alone time is critical and where the anxiety you feel about it may come from.

  • Different ways you can use your alone time to be productive

  • How to actually learn to enjoy this time and experiment

  • Distinguishing between loneliness and being alone

  • How to respond to critical feedback on your independence
